Counseling Experience and Approaches
The range of my experience as a counselor includes assisting clients with a wide variety of challenges, including coping skills, anxiety, stress management, marriage and relationships, issues related to sexuality, sexual identity and orientation, grief and loss, abortion, life transitions, crisis situations, depression, abuse, pain management, addictions, and eating disorders.
As a counselor, I have had the opportunity to work in a variety of capacities: from counseling at a women’s shelter, a suicide and crisis center, and a women’s clinic, to founding and facilitating an eating-disorders support group, to working on a 24-hour phone counseling hotline. Each of these experiences in counseling was rich and unique, and I feel privileged to bring what I have learned from these counseling experiences into my private practice as a counselor.
I use cognitive-behavioral, person-centered, and psychodynamic approaches, as well as the Enneagram and a variety of other tools and techniques to enhance the effectiveness of my work.
